The 36 Questions That Lead to Love: Set I #3 Telephone call

Japanese pay phone, borrowed from here.

Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?

Some telephone calls are too important, so preparation is crucial. For me, one of the hardest telephone calls I have ever made was when I was calling an elderly care facility to confirm whether my graduate students conduct a psychological test or not. We suspected she manipulated her test data because there were some inconsistencies that I found. I even wrote down the things that I needed to say to the staff and asked permission to record the call as proof.

I think when I face difficult situations, I tended to prepare more. If the purpose of the telephone call is not work-related or it is regarding leisure activities, I would not prepare anything.
