The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender
I finished reading this book yesterday evening.
I found the book surprisingly entertaining, shocking, beautiful without feeling mushy. I felt all the right emotions, at the right moment.
The idea that someone can taste other people's feeling through their cooking is just brilliant. I wish I thought of that before.
At first I was bothered by how Ms Bender never use quotation marks to differentiate the conversations. But I slowly got used to it.
I just love the metaphors that she used through out the book. I think they are very clever and witty, and sad at the same time.
A very nice and haunting book to start the year. I will read another book as soon as I can.
